Warning

This piece may be controversial. This piece is not intended to convert people to a certain belief system. This piece may be seen as offensive to those with different beliefs than I. I do not intend to push any of my beliefs on anyone. You may read this with different terminology relating to your own personal beliefs. Ultimately, at the end of the day, this piece is about making decisions on your journey through life and trusting a higher power along the way.

The Universe

When it comes to my own personal beliefs, I have built my own little belief system that has a touch of Buddhism. My one main belief is that our sole purpose is to live a life just to impact others and then die. In this world, everything is composed of energy. Energy is something that cannot be created or destroyed. The question is, if we are composed of energy where does that energy come from and where does it go once our live has ended? In the universe, there is an infinite amount of energy. From the second you breathe your first breath, the universe is giving you an energy, this would be known as your spirit. Your spirit is to guide you throughout your entire life. Once you take your last breath, your energy is released and recycled. The universe takes your energy and gives it to a new life source.

Life, Death & Guidance

As morbid as this may seem, everyone has the same ending in life: death. What makes your life is the millions of choices you make on your journey towards the divine ending. You are not alone when making these choices, your spirit guide is with you the whole way giving you a push when needed. This is what you could call your angel and devil on your shoulder. The universe is giving you the negative outcomes and positives of all options helping your conscious self make the right decision for your life's journey. It is important to remember that everything happens for a reason. If you are a listener of the Moments Podcast with Lexi Hidalgo, I am sure you have heard her quote, "Everything happens for a reason and if you can't see the reason it is because you are in the happening". I quote Lexi on a daily basis and keep this quote close to my heart. When you really think about it, you never really know the outcome of something until it is completely over. You may be able to predict an outcome or maybe even multiple different outcomes but it isn't until you are out of everything happening, that you really see why it happened. Everything does in fact happen for a reason, there are an infinite number of decisions that we as humans have to make before we reach the ending. The universe will lead you to these decisions for a reason however, it is up to you to make the ultimate decision for your life.

Path to Enlightenment

As soon as I turned eighteen, I got my first tattoo. I knew that if I was going to get something, it needed to mean something special to me. I did a lot of research in Buddhist symbols and the one that stood out to me at this point in my life was the unalome.

The unalome is a symbol representing the path to enlightenment. It is a representation of the human journey through life. Each twist and turn in the symbol represents a challenge or hardship that is endured on your journey. For me this tattoo meant so much more than just a little bit of ink of my body because I was finally of age to get one. To me this represented the release from a bad time in my life. Each twist represented rejection, addiction, pain, heartbreak, failure, and deep depression. From each twist and turn I was able to find my way out of a dark place. I went from a joy-filled young girl to a numb, depressive person who didn't even recognize herself. From this I was able to grow into a joy-filled woman who is resilient and can persevere through any hardship or mishap that is thrown my way. One thing about the path to enlightenment is that the path is never straight. There will be many painful moments as well as many joyful moments. Each twist and turn will bring out a new, beautiful, version of yourself.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, the universe is always with you to guide you along in your life's journey. The decisions you make impact who you become as a person and everything else around you. No decision is a bad decision, it is important to follow your heart and listen to your spirit guide when it feels like they are pushing you a certain way you don't want to go. Remember that everything happens for a reason and each twist and turn along the way will help you grow into the amazing and beautiful person you are meant to be when you leave this world and be remembered as.
